General description of responsibilities:
The Director is the Head of the Professional Education Division of the Occupational Therapy Program. The director develops and manages education systems, including curricula, admissions and teaching. They supervise and develop the teaching staff of the Education Division by facilitating and following their career paths. The Director also supervises the staff of the Education Division and manages student issues. They implement procedures to support and improve the professional training of occupational therapists in local, national and international communities. The Director directs the development, implementation and evaluation of university programs, structures, processes and procedures.
Accountability and Responsibilities:
The Director of the Professional Education Division reports to the Associate Dean of Occupational Therapy and is a member of the program leadership team, which includes the Associate Dean, the Directors of the Business, Research and Clinical Operations Divisions and the Administrator of Clinical Operations. department operations. The director is responsible for building and maintaining the systems that ensure that the program works in concert with its educational mission and achieves strategic goals. - Oversees faculty and administrators in the education division including the director of post-professional education and chairs of committees such as admissions, study programs, student counseling, student activities , the academic and professional evaluation committee of students and the evaluation of programs.
- Directs the educational activities of the program and leads the development and implementation of its educational strategic plans, policies and procedures.
- Promotes the development of short and long term educational and organizational goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates operational efficiency; is responsible for maintaining ACOTE accreditation of entry level programs; and make the changes necessary for improvement.
- Ensures the development and implementation of marketing, recruitment, admission, retention and graduation procedures for students.
- Oversees the development and delivery of a contemporary curriculum for the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT), Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (OTD) and Post-Professional Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (PPOTD) programs.
- Partners with Clinical Operations Division to integrate practice and education into an education and further education model.
- Develops, manages and is responsible for the education budget allocated by the management team.
- Plans and develops academic program initiatives with faculty, staff and collaborators.
- Develops relationships and plans new initiatives with the educational leadership of the university, community and professional organizations, the Interprofessional Education Center, the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion of the School of Medicine , and the teaching and learning initiatives scholarship.
- Recommends and participates in the development of university education policies and procedures and sits on university education planning and policy development committees.
- Guides, coaches and assesses clinician-type faculty, including support for professional development and promotion.
- He sits on consumer-focused committees of the program, university or community.

Educational and academic activities:
- Oversees and guides professional development opportunities for colleagues, early career educators and clinicians transitioning to academic roles.
- Translates knowledge of education and learning sciences into educational applications and regularly disseminates this knowledge in jury publications.
- Possibility to teach content in MSOT, OTD, PPOTD or PhD programs.
- Mentor faculty and clinicians to collaborate to deliver a contemporary curriculum that integrates recent evidence and studies into educational approaches and newly designed innovative and experiential teaching spaces.
- Synthesizes program evaluation results to inform curriculum changes so that we provide the best possible contemporary education experience that supports our program results.
- Builds an educational lab that supports the mentorship of OTD graduate students in the area of the Director’s Fellowship.
Education, training and experience:
- Doctorate with pedagogical training.
- NBCOT Certified Occupational Therapist and Licensed in Missouri.
- Minimum of seven years of progressive professional academic experience.
- Mentoring and teaching experience in higher education.
